The Palestinian Ministry of Labour was established in 1994 as the main government agency for labour. It is responsible for labour policies such as: employment, labour legislation, occupational safety and health, vocatinal training, labour relations and cooperatives.
The PMOL vision is to promote the national human resources in a sustained organized labour market. The mission of the PMOL is to lead the national efforts to organize the Palestinian labour market through creation and development of legislations, laws and regulations, to deliver vocational training and employment services that enable coping with the continuous changes in the labour market, and to achieve an active participation of the national workforce in all economical sectors.
Since its formation, the PMOL has been steadily and diligently exerting efforts to encourage the Palestinians to seize all the employment opportunities, improve productivity levels and achieving work stability. The ministry has also continuously sought to create demand- driven, efficient and effective strategies in vocational training and employment and to integrate the citizens in the labor market.
In line with the policy of the Palestinian Authority to boost the capabilities of the human resources and to prepare the younger generations for new practical and technological developments, the PMOL, in cooperation with different partners and stakeholders, formulated new laws for Labour, Cooperatives, and Trade Unions and set up a new strategy for Vocational and Technical Education and Training.
The PMOL is keen on improving its labor legislation and policies to meet the requirements of regional international trends and developments. Therefore, The PMOL always welcomes and is actively involved in all kinds of regional and international cooperation measures.
